Welcome to D-C Middle School

Welcome to Dassel-Coakto Middle School, home of the Chargers! We are home to just over 700 students in 5th through 8th grade, over 40 highly trained and dedicated professional educators, and nearly 35 support staff who assist in our schools daily routines and operations.

Dassel-Cokato Middle School (DCMS) is designed to meet the special needs of middle level students and provide a strong research-based experience for all middle school students. Our program strives to be transitional in nature, providing students with a "bridge" between the self-contained classroom setting of elementary and the departmentalized curriculum of the high school. The educational program includes four core courses (ELA, math, science, and social studies), and variations of Allied Arts courses (physical education, general music, family and consumer science, art, industrial technology, keyboarding, and band).

The mission of DCMS is to encourage a positive attitude toward learning while preparing students with transferable and meaningful skills for life in a global society. We work to empower students with the skills necessary to continue their education and to take responsibility for their lives. Emphasis is placed on acquiring academic excellence through rich, quality instruction and varied curriculum, on developing physically, emotionally, morally, socially, intellectually, and on achieving success in all their endeavors.

We also believe DCMS should: meet the unique needs of the early adolescent; reflect the values and priorities of the community, parents, and students; provide students opportunity to explore a wide variety of interests and skills; and emphasize academically challenging experiences that foster thinking, problem solving, and develop an attitude of life-long learning.

If you are an incoming 5th grade student, we welcome you to a new experience and adventure. If you are a 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student, we look forward to your leadership and continued commitment to your learning in the coming school year. If you are considering enrolling your child, please feel free to contact us to schedule a tour of the facilities or to just simply stop by for a visit. I encourage all parents to be enthusiastic, supportive, and involved in their children's learning to inspire the children to perform their best here at DCMS. You are a key component to all around success of your child!
